A Walk In The Park

What a wonderful afternoon I had yesterday. For the first time in over 30 years I ventured up Belfast's Cave Hill. I had said to a friend a few weeks back that I fancied giving the hill a climb and she said she would go with me. To be honest I had reservations about my fitness (I know it's only a wee hill, but for me it looked like Everest) but I made it to the top. I met Una at the entrance to the grounds of Belfast Castle then we started our assent (I'm even talking the talk) The weather was fantastic for this time of the year. I could not believe how many people were out on the hill, all ages from the very young to the not so very young. My friend Una is a very experienced hill walker and I was so pleased that I was able to keep her in my sight (I think she took pity on me and went at my pace, or perhaps it was because she has a sore ankle) We reached the summit (Told you I can talk the talk) and the view was nothing short of fantastic. The view of the City, Belfast Lough, Slemish Mountain all in County Antrim to Strangford Lough, Scrabo Tower and the magnificent Mourne Mountains all in County Down.
(Una has said that she will make me climb Slieve Donard sometime soon. We will see about that)

I was meant to climb one of them, can't even mind which one it was now..but anyways,I didn't get to do it,and not because my knees were literally knocking together, this time(me and heights didn't use to mix very well)!! I'd so love to climb one some day, purely for the amazing-God created-viewpoints and the clean air!!
